About Haukland beach

Haukland Beach has been repeatedly mentioned as the most beautiful beach in Norway in the Lofoten Islands archipelago. Lofoten Islands has many impressive beaches and Haukland is one of the most beautiful beaches of all. There is a reason for this.

Haukland Beach resembles the tropical beaches of the Seychelles, famous and one of the most beautiful beaches of Lofoten. It is surrounded by white sand, clear blue water and mountains.

This beach is a favorite place for locals and tourists because it is a very good place to relax and start hiking to Mannen, Holandsmelen and several other more exotic routes.

Haukland beach is close to the road that makes it one of the most accessible in the Lofoten Islands, so it is sometimes crowded during the summer months.

Although the water is not as warm as it is on a tropical island, it is not uncommon to see someone swimming in the Arctic Ocean.

Many travelers prefer to stay at Haukland Beach. Dozens or even hundreds of tourists pitch their tents here every night. But there’s plenty of room for everyone. I can’t understand why everyone says there’s no camping site on the beach. Here’s one of the best wild camping spots in the Lofoten Islands.

There are a toilet and water. But the water is not drinkable. Take water from a waterfall (a trip to Mount Mannen) or bring water with you.

Do not build a fire on the grass. It’s not very beautiful, but many tourists do. There’s a lot of us. And if each of us makes a fire, very soon Haukland Beach will turn into ash. Use the barbecue grills.

The beach is beautiful in winter. But the crowds of tourists at this time are smaller. After the snowfall there are not many picturesque places to enjoy the sunrise.

Getting there

Haukland Beach is located 10km from Leknes. Before Leknes, look for the turn to Uttakleiv and follow the Fv826 road.

Before the tunnel you will see a parking lot, toilet and camping area. Turn left to find a place for your car.

On the evening of summer, you may have parking problems. Try arriving a little earlier and find a more comfortable place for your car.

What to do here

You can just relax here and enjoy nature.
This beach is very popular with photographers. Here you can find a huge variety of scenes for photo shooting.
You can walk from Haukland Beach to Uttakleiv Beach and back. It is an easy walk about 4 km one-way distance along the shore.
Hiking from Haukland Beach to Mannen Mountain. Easy/Some little bit moderate hiking 400m up and 2.7 km distance to the top and back.
