About Mannen mountain
View from Manen mountain is one of the most beautiful in the Lofoten islands. Mannen is surrounded by the most beautiful beaches of the Lofoten Islands. This is Haukland beach, Uttakleiv beach and Vik. From the peak there is a stunning view of the Lofoten Islands.

Summer is the best season for hiking to Mannen. Keep an eye on the weather forecast. The trail can be wet and slippery.
Lofoten is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists and photographers around the world. I wrote this manual to share my Lofoten travel experience with you. I’d be very glad if this book helps and inspires you to create new amazing photos.
The way to Mount Mannen is not the easiest on the Lofoten Islands, but you should definitely climb this mountain. Haukland Beach is the beginning of the trail and you must follow it to the top of Mannen. This makes climbing one of the easiest and most interesting in the Lofoten Islands.
Location: Haukland, Vestvågøy
Round trip: 4 km (round trip)
To top: 400 meters
Hike duration: 1 – 1,5 hours to top
Level: easy/some moderate
By the car, drive along the E10 to Leknes. It does not matter from what point you are driving you will see a turn to Uttakleiv and Haukland. Take this road and drive to Haukland beach. There is a distance of about 11 km. Before the tunnel on the left side there will be quite a large parking lot. Leave the car here 68.199406, 13.529596.
From the parking lot go on foot. You should to cross the road in front of the tunnel and follow the tractor road.
After a couple of hundred meters, you will see trampled grass and traces leading to the mountain. This is the beginning of the trail you will follow, leading to the pass. At the pass, one trail leads to Uttakleiv beach and the second trail leads to the left to Mannen mountain.
The trail is quite slippery and wet in some places.
I used the trekking poles while hiking on the mountain, but I slid several times on the wet road and rocks covered with slippery mud.
The trail leads along a steep cliff and is quite clearly visible. Except for a few steep cliffs, the trail is of medium difficulty.
Sometimes the trail runs close to a precipice, be careful, but overall the trail is not dangerous and does not require good physical training or special equipment. If you are walking at a comfortable pace, be sure to climb Mannen.
Where to stay
It's hard to set up a tent on Mount Mannen, and wild camping is inappropriate. It's easy to go downhill, where you'll find a wonderful green grass camping site near Haukland Beach.
