About Uttakleiv Beach
Did you know that the most romantic Lofoten beach is Uttakleiv? I agree with it. It’s an amazingly beautiful place. One of my favorite beaches on Lofoten Islands. A unique atmosphere, the green grass behind which the sheep take care of. Huge boulders in the sea and waves. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. At any time of the year, Uttakleiv is beautiful. It is especially beautiful here in winter at sunset and in summer during sunrise. This is the best place to observe the Northern Lights.
I don’t like the changes that are happening around Uttakleiv now. Paid parking, toilet, camping, dining tables and all sorts of sculptures made of concrete (“heart” for example). I liked Uttakleiv beach in its original form. Now the beach has lost its natural look. But time does not stop and everything changes around us.
After Haukland beach, take the beach through the tunnel to the crossroads and turn left and follow the gravel road. You can easily see the parking near Uttakleiv beach. Also, you can walk on foot from the Haukland beach along the shore. Residents of the fishing village used this road before the tunnel was built.
Earlier, the fishing village of Uttakleiv was isolated from the outside world. In Haukland it was possible to get only by sea or through the pass. But in winter it was difficult for children to walk through the pass and it is difficult to deliver goods to residents. They built a road along the shore. Be sure to read the history of the village. Near the parking, there is an information stand.
You can put a tent on the grass near a beach. There is WC now and not drinking water.
Parking costs 20 NOK per day.
RVs are 150 NOK per day.
Camping costs 100 NOK per tent.
