Introduction
Hi. My name is Marat Stepanoff. I’m a photographer and a traveler.
I first went to the Lofoten Islands in the summer of 2012. They immediately captivated me with their beauty. My first two weeks’ long holiday on the Lofoten Islands is unforgettable and the memory of it will say with me forever.
Since then I have gone back to those beautiful islands many times – in winter, in autumn, in summer… And every time I found something new for myself. I believe the Lofoten Islands are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for any lover of Northern nature, travel, and photography.
When preparing for a trip there for the first time I put a lot of effort into researching and planning the route. If you do not have an unlimited supply of time, then every day is worth its weight in gold. I worked out the road trip, find photo spots, the places for camping, hiking trails and much more.
I collected information bit by bit from the Internet, having reviewed many different sites and blogs. Of course, once in place, a lot of things turned out not perfect and I had to make adjustments.
The guides to be found on the Internet are not suitable for a landscape photographer.
Every year I see a growing number of tourists and photographers coming to Lofoten Islands, but… a photo guide to Lofoten that could answer most of your questions has not materialized.
But, what most upsets me as an artist, there is no guidebook that would inspire you to travel and would allow you to achieve the best-planned result in terms of photography.
So I had an idea to combine the data collected by me and share it with those people who are now searching, just like I used to, information for planning a trip to the Lofoten.
In 2017, this guide was born.
I was happy. Hundreds of people have bought this book.
But the information is out of date. Much has changed. I wanted to update the information and create something absolutely stunning.
I wanted to create a guide that I would like to buy.
But, I don’t buy guidebooks. They are completely useless, boring and impossible to use.
I want the guide to be useful, relevant, inspirational, on a smartphone or tablet, interactive and to solve my problems right now.
I did it!

Plenty of amazing shots. I am going to Lofoten for a few days and the road trip section of the guide helped me plan the journey. The guide was pretty helpful. Mind you, there is not much in terms of restaurant/hotel reviews, but plenty of other useful info for photographers. Solid 8/10.

Not a huge book, but then the whole place is not that big neither. It’s not Iceland, but well worth it. I am definitely coming back!
