Nocturne in Venice is a very significant photo project. This series is very intimate for me. In the photo project “Nocturne in Venice” I showed not only the city, but a little more.
Did anyone hear the sound of footsteps on San Marco?
We usually looked around the city during the day. And we don’t know what the city looks like when everyone is asleep. During the week, I woke up every day two hours before sunrise and went to take pictures of Venice at night. This gallery is the result of my work on that project.
The quiet streets, canals, silence and tranquility all around. I was alone in my favorite city. I felt great energy. Neither rain nor flooding could stop me. I walked around the city like an obsessive and photographed my favorite views.
Even before I started shooting, I knew it would be a monochrome photo project. The black and white images are self-contained. In black and white photographs, we see a timeless story. That was my goal.
After dawn I would go to my apartment near San Marco, go to bed or have breakfast. And waited until the next morning to go out again. At one point I felt completely at one with the spirit of Venice. It was truly an unforgettable experience.
I hope this gallery inspires you to visit Venice. I look forward to seeing you there.
