7-Day Itinerary daily plan

Lofoten Islands itinerary was my 7-Day plan to explore Lofoten Islands from Svolvaer to Å I Lofoten and Moskenes. Svolvaer is the first town on my trip to Lofoten.

One of the buyers of my Lofoten Islands Photo and Travel Guide wrote to me that he really liked my book. But he plans to stay at the hotel. On my site, there is so much useful information. But there is nothing about how to plan your route if you will stay at the hotel.

Now there is such information!

Based on my experience, I made the best 7-day Lofoten Islands Itinerary.

And I recommended some hotels that guarantee the best accommodation.

Follow the links and get complete information about the hotels.

Day 1 Svolvaer – Leknes

Once you arrive at Svolvær airport and rent a car, there is no point in staying long. It is a big city with many shops, ports and government agencies. I have nothing to see here.

Maybe you want to go hiking at Svolvaergeita?

It’s a famous mountain. It peaks like two fingers. I don’t like the view of this mountain.

I preferred to buy food as soon as possible, fill up my car and go to Leknes. This was my first base.

Why Leknes?

A hotel in Leknes has a great location. I don’t like changing bases every day, packing and unpacking. I chose to stay in Leknes during the first half of my trip. It was the best place for my itinerary.

Where to stay

I pick Scandic Leknes Lofoten

Also, see Lofoten Rorbuopplevelser These traditional fishermen’s cottages are located a 10-minute drive from Leknes town center.

Or Lofoten Basecamp All units come with a terrace with sea views, a kitchen with a dishwasher, and a private bathroom.

Day 2 Lofotr, Eggum and Unstad beach

The best way to start the journey is from the Lofotr. It is the Viking museum. I am sure, time will not be wasted.

The second half of the day is best spent in Eggum and Unstad beach.

If the weather is good you will see the Midnight Sun or a beautiful sunset. What else is needed for the first day?

Day 3 Haukland and Uttakleiv beaches and hiking to Mannen

It’s time to relax at Haukland beach. The barbecue will be a great idea. Hiking to Mannen in the afternoon and watch a sunset on Uttakleiv beach.

Everything is nearby and only 10 minutes from your hotel in Leknes.

Day 4 Hiking to Bunes beach and Reine, Hamnøy

After three nights, I drove to Reine.

Where to stay

The second half of the journey I lived in Sakrisøy Rorbuer

Also, see Eliassen Rorbuer is housed in renovated fishermen’s cottages on Hamnøy Island.

The change of hotel is due to the saving of time for driving.

In Reine, there are many comfortable hotels, «rorbuer» and guest houses.

If you plan to continue your journey to the South of Norway you should get by ferry from Moskenes to Bodo or return back to Svolvaer if you are finished.

Depart Reine in Vindstad in the morning. Next, you will find a fascinating walk to the Bunes beach. This beach is a secluded place. You can get here by boat only.

Check the schedule in advance so as not to be late for a boat to Reine.

Spend the afternoon in the Reine and Hamnøy. You can fish, for example, or visit a local restaurant.

Day 5 Hiking to Ryten and Kvalvika Beach

It will be an epic day. Hike to Ryten and Kvalvika beach. You will need a lot of stamina. The hiking is long and a bit hard. But this is one of the most stunning hikes in Lofoten.

I’m sure it will take all-day

Day 6 Å I Lofoten and hiking to Reinebringen

Take a trip to Å.

Å is a beautiful fishing village. There is a lot of “rorbuer”, cafes, shops, etc. This is a typical tourist place. But it is beautiful here. Be sure to take a walk to the cape to the sea. I really like this sea view.

At sunset, climb stairs up to Reinebringen. After they opened the stairs, it became easy.

Day 7 Nusfjord – Moskenes (Svolvaer)

Before leaving, visit the Nusfjord (Unesco World Heritage Site). Another “must-have” fishing village.
